FilaLabs high-temperature resistant and no warp PA-CF is a carbon fiber-infused polyamide filament specially formulated for additive manufacturing.

FilaLabs PA-CF provides exceptional strength, durability, thermal stability, and stiffness that is customary of carbon fiber materials. FilaLabs PA-CF is readily printable with a wide processing window, providing a highly accessible engineering-grade solution or open platform and even open-air printers. It is important to note, the mechanical properties of PA may change with water uptake as this material is moisture sensitive. Printed part is also fit for high-temperature resistant applications.

This is an engineering composite material suitable for high strength, high abrasion and heat resistant applications. The toughness of nylon PA12 is combined with 20% chopped nylon to add stiffness. It is ideally suited to applications that require higher strength and rigidity. The material demonstrates high strength, high abrasion resistance and high-temperature resistance. The carbon fiber reinforcement not only increases the toughness of the material but also limits shrinkage.

Carbon Fiber + Nylon Infusion Filament (PA-CF)

  • High Dimensional Stability – Minimum tolerance and low warping to ensure consistent feeding and stable prints, no clogging, no bubbles, extremely high successful rate, resulting in an outstanding surface finish and are highly precise.
  • Tangle Free & No Plugging – Full 1KG 3D printer filament reel, perfect roundness and very tight diameter tolerance, good winding, does not overlap or tangle. Orderly wrapped, melt well, feed smoothly and constantly without clogging the nozzle or extruder. PA12-CF is very easy to grind nozzles and extruder gears. It is recommended to use hardened steel nozzles or ruby nozzles.
  • Wide Application – PA12-CF is widely used in widely used in robots, drones, automotive and aviation industry products, functional prototype parts, textile product pump impellers, mechanical gears, precision engineering components, etc.
  • Excellent Physical Properties & Sealed Packing – PA12-CF can be used as conductive and antistatic material for its excellent physical properties. It can be detected by metal detectors (≥ 2 mm³). The insulation resistance and surface resistance of the strip electrode are less than 102Ω. It comes in a sealed vacuum bag with a desiccant bag.

This material is abrasive and wears out standard brass nozzles. It is recommended to use a tougher material nozzle such as hardened steel or stainless steel or a ruby nozzle with a larger then standard nozzle size of 0.5 to 0.8mm. For the Flashforge Creator 3 or Guider IIs ithe 0.6mm hardened nozzle is recommended for optimal results. An application of PVA glue is recommended to assist adhesion to print surfaces. Printing with a brim is recommended to ensure good bed surface adhesion for this material.

MATERIAL HANDLING AND DRYING

FilaLabs PA-CF is an extremely hygroscopic thermoplastic and will absorb moisture from humid air. Keep the material in the vacuum sealed packaging until you are ready to print with it. PA-CF filament should always be fed to the printer in a dry container and stored in a dry cabinet. If the material does absorb more than 500ppm moisture, it should be dried in a low dew point (< -40˚C) oven or vacuum oven at 100 – 120˚C for 4 – 10 hours.
